Welcome to the sensuous world of Ingrid Ruegemer: Minimalist style, sensuous shapes and playful function.

"Tickle your senses!"

My work explores everyday objects, their function, potential interaction and the relationships we form with them. I experiment with material and surface qualities, and explore various forms of expression. By transforming my ideas in three dimensions, I aim to engage and to convey experiences, emotions and imagination. My objects invite to be explored not only visually but also physically. Their tactile qualities and their meticulously finished surfaces play therefore an integral role of the experience. My approach is a combination of physical experimentation with materials and craft processes, exploration of shape through traditional sculpting methods and the implementation of digital technologies. In the making process I value materials that age well, I focus on high quality making skills and great attention to detail.Therefore I only collaborate with highly experienced craftsmen, chosen particularly for each project.

Ingrid graduated with a diploma in communication-design and started her career as a graphic designer and illustrator in 1991. She designed for various design studios and publishers before she left Germany in 1997 to gather international work experience. Her design journey took her to diverse places such as Cape Town, London, Grand Cayman and Barcelona where she worked as a designer and artist. In 2001 Ingrid returned to London where she founded an interdisciplinary design studio together with her husband Oliver Szasz. Ingrid's passion for product design led to a Master degree in ceramic design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (2007). This was the starting point for the Absolute Appetite tableware collection, which was successfully launched in 2008.

BOULES Tumblers (design: Ingrid Ruegemer) - Elegant timelessness with a touch of playfulness. Each tactile glass is skilfully mouth blown and hand finished with delicate lenses, which add a surprising visual element. BOULES’ curved and heavy bottoms allow the tumblers to rock, while the lens guarantees a stable position at a playful angle.

FROOTY Sensual Smoothie Cups (design: Ingrid Ruegemer) - FROOTY sensual smoothie cups have been designed to bring the magic of fruit to life. Smoothies are healthy, convenient and tasty, but fruit can also be seductive and playful, and eating fruit can be a sensual experience. FROOTY cups provide a new, tactile drinking experience that aims to stimulate the senses. With their sculptural aesthetics and flawless finish, these delicate cups are both decorative and eye-catching. Each fine bone china cup is traditionally handcrafted.

SAMBA Spice Shakers (design: Ingrid Ruegemer) - SAMBA spice shakers combine functionality and playful elegance. SAMBA pays homage to the magic of South American rhythm, passion and sensuality – its design being inspired by the principle of the maracas. Just like maracas, the shakers become musical instruments when in use, and their alluring curves beg to be touched. The shakers are available in three variations: salt and pepper, salt and chilli, or sugar and cocoa. Each fine bone china shaker is traditionally handcrafted, and each set comes with two red and two black silicone rubber seals.

BOUQUiNi (design: Ingrid Ruegemer) - A sophisticated fusion of a bouquet collar and a flower vase, BOUQUiNi provides a graceful stage for beautiful blooms. Each precious little vase is a joy to hold and behold, its perfectly polished sheen reflecting the delicate elegance of the flowers it displays. BOUQUiNi vases are available in finest golden brass or with a luxurious silver-plated finish. They are a delight to view from every angle, and add a touch of magic to every room.

HORN champagne flutes (design: Ingrid Ruegemer) - HORN Champagne Flutes are a contemporary, playful interpretation of the ancient drinking horn. Each flute is skilfully mouth blown and has its own individually fitted and handcrafted, sterling silver stand. For the ultimate champagne experience the stands are gold plated on the inside with a 24 carat gold. Horn Champagne flutes are presented in a luxuriously handcrafted box.

SEDA collection (Short vase, tall vase, candle holder - design: Ingrid Ruegemer) - The design for the SEDA fine bone china collection has been inspired by the elegant flow of fabric. It captures a moment in time, like the graceful motion of a silk scarf in the wind. SEDA is the Spanish word for silk, and just like silk the collection is a joy to touch – the sensuous surfaces are smoothly hand polished to complement the distinct tactile shapes. Each piece is traditionally handcrafted, meticulously finished and fired to vitrification to make it waterproof and signed by Ingrid Rügemer.
